With reference to Lord Milner's despatch No.
289 of the 26th of August, 1920, conveying his approval of the
extension of the lease of Tai O Salt Pan No.1, I have the
honour to inform Your Lordship that an application has now
been received to extend further, as from the 4th of June, 1950,
the date of the expiry of the present lease.
2.
As it is considered that there will be no
legitimate competition, I request Your Lordship's authority to
issue a lease for a further period of ten years without auction
to the present lessees under the same conditions as in the
past.
5.
In this connection I have the honour to
suggest that I may be given Your Lordship's general authority
to extend Crown Leases of all salt pans at my discretion.
I have the honour to be,
My Lord,
Your Lordship's most obedient,
hurible servant,
THE RIGHT HONOURABLE
LORD PASSFIELD,
